Good morning all! We have been very busy at the Audubon Alliance for Coastal Waterbirds with post-Sandy cleanup, habitat assessment and potential repair, monitoring, post-storm bird chasing and documenting, beach checking, and so forth. We are preparing for the 2013 season in every way possible just about every day right now. It is coming very quickly and it is hard to believe that in three short months the Piping Plovers will have already returned to a few locations in Connecticut. We hope you have been well and are ready to get out in the field for 2013 so that we can build off the successes of our terrific first season. We are planning on enhancing what we did with more field work with additional staff on the beaches and offshore islands, a new selection of classes and seminars, and hopefully more volunteers on board to further boost our efforts.
Here is the data and information put together on last season by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in the form of a PDF file of From The Shore 2012.
Our thanks to CT DEEP for a job well done, and to all of you for your tremendous efforts all season long. As always, please contact us at ctwaterbirds@gmail.com if you have any questions or comments and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We hope all of you made it through Sandy well and wish you a happy holiday season.
