Why Did God Allow the Massacre at Newtown?
At breakfast this morning before I sent him to school, I asked my son to eat the food I was giving him. He said "no I don't like that." He chose what he likes instead. So I insisted and told him the benefits of the food I was giving him. Even so, he was equally convinced that his choice was better for him. So I raised my hands in frustration and had to recognize that he ultimately has the freedom to choose.
Now, although I understand the frustrations we have with our God who claims to be an all-knowing, all-powerful and loving God, but did not stop the massacre of 20 children and six good adults, we really cannot blame Him over this senseless massacre. You see, the killer, Adam Lanza, had a choice. He can choose to be good over evil. He can choose to obey God, the Father of love and giver of life, or he can choose Satan, the father of lies, death and destruction. Sadly Adam Lanza chose the latter.
So if you were a lawyer, who do you think have the burden of proof here? Who should be on trial? I say it's Satan and Adam Lanza.
