A lot of regular events in churches turn into pet projects over time that just drain their limited resources. They have become "holy cows" that need to be eliminated. I remember Chuck Swindoll once said "If you see a holy cow coming, shoot it down." In an article "Stop Doing that Event!: 10 Signs that It's Time to Eliminate an All-Church Event," Tony Morgan put up a list on how to determine if your all-church regular event needs to go.
